Do you have any local tack shops/pony club that could advertise for you?

Sometimes preloved have share horse adverts, or Facebook is good - could your friend post another ad?

I‘m looking but unfortunately not in your area - perhaps post on the regional boards?

I think there is still value in a card on the notice board in a tack shop.
I have tried previously on preloved but seemed to find kids who had been to a riding school for 2 years and felt that they weren't a novice because they could trot without stirrups. Others I know have had good success.
Word of mouth is still the best way to find good sharers though; tell your friends, farrier, instructor, vet, everyone that you are on the lookout. They might know someone who is horse savvy and safe looking.

I could really do with one too, but I don't want Ludo ridden by other people. Are there any "loaners" who only want a cuddly, loving horse to love and do ground work with?

I’m certain you’d get someone, especially if he’s a nice sweet sort. I know a lot of people who love horses but have no desire to ride

He is so gentle he could be handled by someone physically disabled, I'm hopeful I can find someone.

Yes and also if I weren't in completely the wrong place I would plant myself firmly at the front of the Ludo queue!

ETA - OP if you and your friend are able to sit and look at FB together it could be worth looking at the 'share wanted ads'. Lots of owners prefer not to advertise and to approach people advertising for a share wanted. Two of my three shares were found this way (owner responding to my share wanted ad).

Contrary to what others have said, not many, I wouldn't think. You might get initial interest, but finding someone keen to commit long term to a horse they couldn't ride, who would want to go a couple of days a week, would be quite challenging. Not saying it's impossible, mind! But also, my understanding is that you're on full livery, so I'm not sure you'd have a huge amount for a sharer/ part-loaner to do, other than a bit of ground work/ grooming. Mind you, assuming you don't want a financial contribution, you never know.

Can't you move? :)

Ah if only!

With my first share I did two riding days and then when I could the odd additional non riding day. I obviously didn't pay on those days but still did mucking out, hay, bringing in etc. I just liked being around the horses and outdoors and away from the various things stressing me out at the time.

I found a very long term and brilliant sharer on horsemart - but I believe it depends on who is looking when and where. This means that it is worth putting your ads everywhere you can think of. The ‘horses for sale’ boards are all a bit crap except horsequest, which is expensive, and people looking might not trawl through them all. I would start with free ads on Facebook (local horse groups), horsemart, and preloved. Whenever I’ve looked at the others (right horse right home etc) they don’t seem to have many advertisers so I don’t look at them frequently.

Not sure what area you are in, but I’ve seen a couple of people recently looking for just groundwork/grooming shares, so definitely possible!
