Hi guys,

Please help to point me in the right direction... I'm looking for a horse at the cheaper end of the market....max £1500. Ideally 15 - 16hh, gelding, age 5 to 8. Needs to be broken, but quite happy with green and needing work etc. No TB's (as already have one of these!), but not fussed on breed / colour etc. Pref light / middleweight or cob (if cob can be 14.2 but needs to be on more chunky side).
I've been looking for 10 days....looked on Horsemart, Horsequest, H&H online. Plus Preloved, Gumtree (althou found this difficult to use / search on..?), Adhorse.
So, surely someone must know of something that's sat in a field needing to be brought back into work...or any other sites where I can look for something at the cheaper end of the market....??
PS - pref in Southeast / Thames Valley area (as located in South Bucks)

Any ideas, thoughts most welcome!!!
Thanks x

Scrunchie - I did have a look on Dragondriving....but struggled to find many 'riding horses' as most seemed 'drivers'. Also seemed a lot of Trotter types. I did phone up about a nice sec D on there but already sold :(
Will certainly have another look, so thanks!

Ad no 70471 on NFED belongs to a friend of mine. Prob too far for you but PM me if you want to know more.
Price is very negotiable

Take a look on :
www.jjggees.co.uk

They have some lovely horses - Blackswater Mac the Knife is a real sweetie.

Opps just seen ur max price is £1500! Sorry (dont know how to delete comment)!!

Hi all,

Just to say thanks for the additional suggestions of where to look for something suitable.
I'm not sure how the Facebook searching works...? So if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.
Also, again, if anyone knows of anything sitting in someone's field...needing to be brought back into work or needing schooling etc then that would be great.
I've found a couple of possibles but nothing that really 'sells itself' to me!

Just to add that it will be a great home etc. I've re-schooled my existing TB off the track & had him approaching 10 years.

Mine's bit small at 14. But he's chunky. I'm midlands too but I have him sat bored in the field and would love a home for him. He has some real talent too! Keep looking. Ur pony is out there!

Thanks Storminateacup & Spotsrock for your replies.
I had considered looking in Ireland, esp as the Cavan sales were last week. However, the cost of going out there & bringing back (roughly £350 to get back) seemed too high...
Spotsrock your guy sounds the perfect sort but really would be too small at 14hh (I'm 5'7 / 5'8).
Thanks guys for your suggestions...they all help!

My friend rides him and doesn't look tall. She's 5'11 lol. I guess it just comes down to what u feel comfy on. Good luck with ur search. :-)

Hi Faracat, just had a look at the Arab but prob not really suitable.
I'm keen to find or have something capable of becoming a RC allrounder, or that kind of thing and the arab sounds poss a bit limited from the advert... Many thanks for the suggestion thou :)

have you looked at horsedeals? just seen a nice coloured section d x, 3yrs old, gelding, £1300 o n o in surrey(not sure how far this is for you) ad date is 31/1 so may be gone by now...

I have found that putting up my own advert explaining what I am looking for has found me the right horse every time. A lot of people don't advertise their horses for sale straight away and prefer to look for a suitable home for there horses themselves. Try Nfed, Preloved as they are free.

Actually, thinking about it that's how I found my boy. And he was a perfect match for me. He wasn't that cheap though (IMO)! I put an ad on Preloved, had a few replies and one of those was The One.
