My stables will be completed in a few weeks and I want some new mucking out equipment to make life easier!

I have a cheapy poopa scoopa in the paddock but I want something that I can use for skipping out. Ideally that can hold more than one poop at a time. Has anyone used the ones with holes in for bedding? They will be on miscanthus and pellets so wondering of these are worth it?

Any other kit you love?

Many thanks 😊

I have one of these for poo picking.
The scoop fits 2 poos and I much prefer the short metal rake, the long handled ones give me tennis elbow.

I agree, these are far more efficient than the old style 1 poo versions. Ditto the short rake (which you can buy separately as well)

Only 2? Someone's not using their boot to compact it all down into the scoop to maximize the poop to scoop ratio! 🤣
For real though, these are good, can't stand the regular sized ones anymore. A sensible person would use it for a couple of poops to save their back, I however am not a sensible person 🤪
Also short rake is much better than the long ones personally, especially if you're picking up anything bigger than little light pony poops. Trying to wrestle a heavy poop in from the end of the long rake is not the vibe.

Genuinely envious of anyone whose back can withstand that! Tried it once, never again! 😂
I used to muck out like this 20 odd years ago, a lot of people did! Had a long gap and back into horses and I've literally reverted to this this week, I find it much easier than using the forks, even the lightweight ones!

My 40 something year old back can just about withstand it for one pony! I honestly prefer it, its quicker too and easier to save on bedding!

The poo pickers above but i think the rake they come with is awful. The metal ones are too narrow and the plastic ones have no bounce- If you try both you will understand what I mean!
So i buy a seperate rake and its got a bit of a flick to it making poo picking so so easy and does a great job. I actually have to take it with me if im poo picking for anyone else because I just can't use the ones they come with!

When i first started at a riding school working full time we had to muck out by hand. We had a hand shovel and trowel and a laundry basket!
Once i got the hang if it i was away!
I now keep rubber gloves and a skip in my stable to quickly pick up any poo between mucking out.

I got 7 in once, while I was waiting for my helper (mum) to return with the barrow 🤣

I like this one, the flat bit at the back is handy, as are the little side bits!

I’m now avidly watching this thread as the metal on my pooper scooper has just crumpled and fallen off! After only two years! It always makes me wince when metal and plastic give up that fast, the waste from this kind of rubbish must be immense.

Anyone know of any poo scoopers that last at least five years that are still purchasable today?

Brilliant have ordered one, my metal one was narrow to start with and in first week lost a prong so even more narrow lol
