So for general antibacterial cleaning of hooves for thrush etc what do you use?
I have heard good things about hibiscrub, milton and red horse products.

Also how often do you give routine clean to the hooves, is it a weekly, monthly thing you do?

For best results on thrushy bits, I've found Nizoral (the medical anti dandruff / anti fungal shampoo) works really well. I know thrush is sometimes bacterial, sometimes fungal, sometimes a combination of the two... but having used Milton, hibiscrub, various antibacterial "anti mud fever" washes, etc, a squirt of nizoral lathered up and left for five mins before rinsing seems to zap it a treat. Then I dry (if necessary with a hair drier) before using Nettex Frog Health spray or purple foot rot spray, and or one of the gels that you can squirt into awkward areas with its pointy nozzle depending on what I think it needs. Then for central sulcus probs or any holes which need plugging, I use Hoof Stuff to pack it once it's cleaned. In the summer I do it when I think it needs doing (so not for months until we had the recent hot and wet spell) and in the winter again, it's probably every three days or so, depending on whether we're battling any stubborn bits.

ETA I realise that might sound a bit OTT, but I think loads of horses are going around with thrushy feet and their owners don't do anything - apart from going 'poo, stinky feet!' when they pick their feet out. ;)

I regularly wash Shy's feet either with hibiscrub or more often the Lavender wash I use on his saddle areas after riding, and that's daily. . Once a week I spray a bit of the purple foot rot spray into the sulsis of the frog (tiny amount needed). It just bubbles slightly, and I know it's helping.

He's suffered with thrush since I got him, but we certainly have it under control now. Hope that helps.

I use hibiscrub and hot water, using a stiff old dandy brush, finishing off with a little purple spray. I tend to only do it when they're looking yucky, I don't see the point in doing it unless there appears to be a problem :)
