I have collegiate grip reins with stoppers, they're like fabric with rubber sewn in plus stoppers - works for me I'd say it's best to go to a tack shop and feel everything they've got!
Eventa rubber reins - the rubber ones with no pimples - easy to hold but with a decent pair of gloves (essential) give outstanding grip. Sabre make them wit the Eventa rubber, as do other brands such as Jeffries etc I think. Worth the money paid. I also think the Bio Grip reins are very good but I found them a bit to narrow for my hands.
Anything with stoppers, really helps you keep a hold and not slowly let it out!
I actually really like the cheap cotton ones with a couple of lines of rubber running through, then with stoppers. With gloves on they won't budge. Something like this, but you might want to spend a bit more so the leather doesn't give out! http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/Equestr...s/Horze+Leather+Reins+Rubberized_308-0120.htm
Alot is personal taste though, perhaps if you prefer a certain type of rein you could get your saddler to sew some stoppers on?
if you're using continental reins (with stoppers down them) make sure you have thick gloves on though, otherwise the stoppers will rip into your hands terribly if he has a good yank at the reins...
i really rate the eventa ones too, fwiw.
