I'm looking to get freds pony a saddle, but i'm not sure what sort to get, do i go with a simple felt pad, or do i get one of those Cub/Starter saddles that are more substantial? I've no idea!

I had an anicent racing saddle of my great grandpas on my shetland when i was a tiny (which i do still have LOL) but i'm thinkng Fred can have an upgrade LOL!

Fred is almost 1, and sits on his pony about 4 times a week, for about 5-10 minutes, mainly at the moment he likes standing on his bottom, but i'd like him to have something less slidey to sit on than just bareback (until he can hold on properly then he can ride how he likes!!)

Thanks

RD

I would recommend the Cub. Fits a wide range of ponies, helps place littlies in the right position & has a grab handle for security.

I really am a fan, it's adjustable too (has pads on the underside to sort various widths) I started my little sister off on one on a mini shetland & it's fab.

Also super lightweight so they can carry it to pony etc, helps them to get involved a little more.

A cub saddle is more certain to fit and so will a shires highlight synthetic saddle. Price range approx £40 for cub saddle and £140 for the shires.

Agree with cubs - light, grippy seat and minimal cleaning required!! I have got one thats hardly been used as I ended up with two!! PM me if you are interested in it.
