I'm thinking of buying a new saddle for my boy. The one he's got is a good make (Martin Wilkinson) but about 5 million years old and very scruffy.

Any one recommend one? Have about £400 - £500 to spend and will probably have to go 2nd hand.

Thanks

I have always got on well with Frank Baines saddles (horse has a big shoulder and big movement) and always found Ideal to be comfortable and reasonably priced

Ditto 'Ideal' really good, had one for little fat cob and dressage one for lanky TB, both great to ride in x

I'll vote for Ideal, I got a new VSD for £495 last year and I love it. You stick to it like glue once you and horse warm up. I have hunted and done long fun rides without getting a sore bum! Very smart too, I have had lots of admiring comments when out and about.

I think it depends on what suits you and the horse very much, if you find one that you like, then stick with it! I've had 3 King's Saddles and liked them all, my current one is a jumping one which I got last month for £550 and I love it! I've also had a Jeffries, which was fine and a Devoucoux, which I loathe. I think I'd probably like an Ideal and might get one one day.
