Can anyone help?

What are the best fitting saddles for chunky cobs?

What saddle do you use on your cob?

I'm having a job to find one that fits, and does not slip.

I had to have one made to measure for my coblet - it has however been worth every penny as it never moves even if she is turning herself inside out!! I feel totally secure when riding in it and its comfy as we regulalry go out for 3 hour hacks.

I am using and Ideal 1350 on current cob, previous cob had and Ideal H and C. Both very good I prefer the 1350 very comfy but I thin k alot depends on how wide they are.

I loved my Thorowgood T4 Cob saddle. It comes in W, XW and XXW and the cob fit is good for low witherd horses.

Ditto this, mine is in an XXW!

3 rd vote.
a straighter cut at the shoulder to accommodate chunkiness.

Ideal H+C had it made to measure at no extra cost fitted with point and balance straps. He has since lost weight but I brought another Ideal to fit his streamlined new look. If you have a good saddle fitter it makes all the difference.

I've got a Wintec Wide and hate it!!!!! I'm gonna get another saddler to come out and look, it may fit him but it doesn't fit me, i feel like a fairy on a Christmas cake!!

Another vote for Thorowgood T4! My wide cob is a very strange shape as his back isnt flat, it slopes up towards the back, he seems to be permanentlly croup high, and the saddle doesnt budge.

ANOTHER vote for the Thorowgood T4 Cob, had mine 3yrs and love it.

The new ones now have even more adjustments for when they change shape. Good saddles
