My trainer has been working with KalBear alot lately (she has been schooling him 3x/week for about the past 6 months and has also taken him out a few times too since we moved him) and today I really felt like it had paid off!

He is not a particularly easy ride . . . he can be sharp and quirky, he can also be quite tense and when he's argumentative there's no more frustrating horse to be sitting on. Also, he came to us having been overriden in draw reins, lacking balance/self carriage, tense, stressed and unable to canter left without going disunited.

He has improved soooo much.

Today, having not sat on him for two weeks (we were at Burghley all last weekend and I work during in London (2 hour commute) during the week, I rode him in the school. He was amazing! Inside leg on, slight squeeze down the outside rein and he popped straight onto the bit, lifted his back and went round! In walk AND trot (he'll do it in all three paces for my trainer - but numpty Mummy has been struggling with trot). He's done it for me before, but never so willingly and without an argument/resistance/going hollow.

He was a little superstar. Forward without rushing. Not spooky or sharp. Lovely relaxed paces in trot (no hollowing or evasion).

Not much point to this post . . . we didn't win a rosette or a ribbon or go round an affiliated cross country course . . . but we felt more consistently like a partnership than we have in ages . . . and he was more obliging and responsive to ride than he's been since we bought him. He got lots of treats, cuddles and a bath (which he didn't really appreciate) as a reward :).

I love my horse . . .
