I used to shred my own paper bedding but recently I havent been able to get enough paper.
So I tried cheap shavings and found them very expensive as I was using 2-3 bales a week.
I then tried wood pellets which were ok but very dusty in the summer.
I have now tried more expensive shavings (woodpecker) and they have been a complete eye opener as they have been down 2 weeks and I havent added anymore yet. They are only in from 9-4 but the beds are beautiful.
Which shavings do you find the best and are you buying in bulk to get a good deal

I love Plospan shavings and also use these for all of my chickens (150+) they are the best I have ever tried and I have been through a lot of brands!

I do like the more expensive ones as you say the cheap ones are very obvious!

I buy single bags about 8 at a time costing roughly £8-9 each

My horses are out just now so not using anything but do in the winter. After trying various different things (including wood pellets which I didn't really like) I settled on beddown excel and love them, I can't remember the price but they are economical and easy to muck out.
