Just wondered which boots people can recommend for riding. I cannot find a pair I am absolutely happy with. I like the look of the ariat devon pro but they are soooo expensive and I have only just forked out £200 on some long boots (but they are not so comfortable for everyday riding and doing my jobs.) I have some just togs steel toe caps for yard work and I love them but find they don't grip the stirrup when I ride. Same with my Mark todd ones. I like my mountain horse sterling boots but they have now worn out and I can't find any left in size 40 or 41.

So which boots do you prefer/recommend? They need to be light weight and comfortable with a good grip in the stirrup.

Thanks. :)

Have to confess I've gone with the Ariat short boots. Think they are the one before the latest version (which is probably the devon pro you are talking about). They were pricey and they do fit differently than a lot of other boots, but once you get used to the fit, they are BRILLIANT!

Much more comfortable than long boots, which I only have for competition/hunting as otherwise am always in my ariats. They've lasted me a few years so far, although my last pair did 'collapse' in the middle but that was after a few soakings over the winter ^_^

Thanks, Bernster. I may have to save up then!

Has anyone tried aquacats? There are some with the zip front that look really nice on ebay?

Either Ariat Terrain or Telluride, very very comfy ri ride and do jobs in, I had 2 pairs of Aquacats and the stitching went in the same place each time within a month of having them. Mountain horse are quite good too.

Thanks. I ordered the aquacats before reading this! I have to say that I absolutely LOVE them. They are so comfortable and great to ride in too. However, the stitching problem is a bit worrying. I will report back if it happens to the pair I have.

i have the cheapest ariat short leather boots they are worth every penny. i was given 2 pais before and would never have considered spending that much on boots but was completely convinced. They are like wearing slippers and will NEVER go back!!

i am going against the grain here and suggesting a very cheap make called Arizona and they do a fab field boot/jodpur boot with zip for less than £25 at my local saddlery! Brilliant boots for riding at the yard in and i use another pair of the same boots with my gaiters for shows! And a fraction of the price of Ariat, and people have thought before that they are Ariat!
