My girl is unusually itchy at the moment. I’ve bought the Farriers shampoo and spray to see if that helps. But I’d like to also sooth her itchy skin, so what are the best soothing, skin calming creams?

I think Botanica is overpriced as all hell but it does do a decent job just as a moisturising cream with comfrey, aloe vera, lavender and some other herbal things if pony can't tolerate active ingredients like benzyl benzoate.

Anti histamines might be a good shout too. And be careful shampooing, it just dries my girls skin out more. Hot cloth and oil wouldn't strip the natural oils out of the coat.

I favour powders, they stay in place longer and dry up sweat and if they have active ingredients like zinc or copper they're healing too. The bite back people do one but anything designed to sooth and cool. Look for one for jock itch.

This has stopped by old boy rubbing out his mane and tail, and I use the Alternative Fly Spray on him too
But neem isn't for everyone; another horse came out in awful welts

It will vary from horse to horse, yard to yard.

However products I’ve found useful:
Barrier pesky pest wash
Old style horse remedies seaweed wash
Hydra Midas horse shampoo (best horse shampoo I’ve ever used, alas appears out of stock atm. Was slightly sceptical before I ordered, given the other stuff the company makes. However very impressed with it. Really shifts filth in the coat.)

Biteback Sweet Relief Lotion gets rid of any scabby bits and soothes any rubs on my mare who has sweet itch. I apply it daily to the areas I know she is affected along with fly spray all over and it stops her rubbing so much.

As above - I'm avoiding Biteback since she came up in welts after using the Sweet Relief Cream.

If its just certain areas, and not an all over wash you are looking for. Lillidale Animal Health do a fab cream called Pink Magic. If you use the code EVENT25 at check out, it gives your 25% off your order

Aloe Vera cream from Lidl it's about 2 quid

People keep pinching mine

Slather it anywhere, makes your feet silky

Its worth a try for a big bottle. Could add some essential oils tea tree lavender

Could mix a big blob with some savlon or sudocrem

It's in a big green bottle
