What's the best specification supplement pref with prebiotics? There seems to be a lot on the market where the spec is quite poor! I don't want to feed my horse a balancer as she gets fat on fresh air just want to ensure she gets the right vitamins and minerals but there seems to be so much variation in supplements yet they all say theirs is the best!! Confused.com!!

Progressive Earth, Forage Plus, Equivita or Equimins all do good quality supplements. It depends what else you feed though. Mine gets ad lib good quality haylage and access to reasonable grazing 12 hours a day so he gets the cheapest progressive earth supplement. He looks stonking on it and I notice a difference if ever I stop. Previous horse had restricted grazing and hay so got the expensive progressive earth supplement with the extra vitamin e etc.

I have started feeding equimins advance complete as that seemed like a good accessible option after pondering on forage plus for a while. Also have a very good doer so low volume feed needed. Just gets adlib forage, some oat chaff and her equimins in a handful of fast fibre. I can't review that diet yet though as it's only been a couple of weeks.

I used the equimins but do need to add some magnesium on top as it is lower than the others (and we have high calcium forage/grazing)

the best once is that which provides for your horses needs. have your forage analysed you'll be amazed at what you don't need to supplement.
