I would like some new irons. I currently have the bent leg ones but I dont really like them, although they are safe. I feel they put my leg in a strange position.

Anyway which others are good? I am looking it from a safety aspect aswell as comfort.

I am thinking perhaps those flexible ones with the rubber sides (hope that makes sense).

Or I have always liked the peacock ones safety wise but I do remember when I rode my friends horse not so long ago the elastic came off when I caught it on a bush mid hack which then made them not very safe at all. Especially if it happened round an XC course or something.

The ones with bendy sides are really comfortable. I used to get stiff ankles when i hacked, even for an hour but they eliminate that and they make it easier to push your heels down and forward fro jumping

I have the Bow Balance Sprenger Iorns and although a little pricey lovely to ride in. Think i paid about 95.00 GBP for mine IMO worth every penny

You are right - Peacock irons are for kids. Flexible stirrups are great, I can't ride in anything else. There are lots on the market for around £25, so no need to pay silly money for the name. If you like lightweight ones, then the Royal Rider Jump 25 ones (polymer resin) ones are good, and have a choice of rubber or "cheesegrater" treads. The flex ones are slightly more expensive than the standard, but you can get them for around £80 if you hunt on the net.

Thorowgood T6 irons. As good as the Sprengers IMHO and about £25 cheaper.

Will have to put them on tonight.

What treads did you put in them?

i just have Thorowgood Tuff stirrups - the black polymer ones. They look cheap and rubbish (and they were only a tenner lol!) but i've not lost a stirrup since losing them, since they're so light they don't move from your feet. not everyone likes them, but i love them!

I love my Sprengers.. My knees don't ache anymore when i ride and for that reason alone they are worth their weight in gold!! I would definitely buy another pair!!

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will have a look on the net today.

I think I will go for the flexible ones, I did have those in mind but I thought I would see what other suggestions came up first
