Best thing for crack in hoof please????

Hello!

As the title suggests rally, my 3.5 yo native has the start of a crack in the toe of her near fore. She stays in at night and is out all day. It started off a around 2mm, in the form of a fine line - not 'splittig open' yet (hopefully never!), but over the past few days, has travelled up the hoof and is a good inch high now.
Alreasdy use Kevin Bacon grease, and have Keratex hoof hardener and Cornucresine to hand - any ideas or suggestions please??
She only goes out on the road once/twice per week (max) for in hand walks, not on poor ground and is currently on a Spiller balancer (was top spec), with A&P Fast Fibre with plenty of hay at night.
Don't want it getting any worse especially as this nut-job has enough issues going on as it is!!!

Agreed the farrier will know whether or not to put a special patch at the top of this to prevent it going up further

Going to give my farrier a bell, but as her feet are not really due a trim yet, I am trying to tie it in with him coming to the yard anyway - he shoes most of the yard now.

The patch sounds like a good idea, as it does seem to progressing up the foot so fingers crossed - thank you ;)
 
In my experience a good low sugar high forage diet and a decent trim. If it's the quarters cracking they may have been left too long. Healthy, well trimmed hooves shouldn't crack.
 
If we have a vertical crack that is travelling up towards the coronary band our farrier heats an iron bar and puts a burn horizontally across the top of the crack and this prevents it going any further. I've never seen a patch put on one but it probably does something similar.
 
I got my welsh d youngster with terrible cracked feet - grass gracks, big chips off the toe and then he started with a sand crack. Farrier said it was just because he'd never been trimmed before he came to me and even the sand crack he said was not too bad and regular trimming would take any pressure off the toe - so I was initially v concerned cos they did look terrible but now they are regularly trimmed they're coming along much better.
