Hello, apologies if this has been asked before.

My heavyweight cob has finally completely trashed his old Shires travel boots and I need to buy him some new ones. Im struggling however to find some that are wide enough to go round his legs, so he has enough protection and also that the straps will do up! Have tried new Shires ones, Woof Wear and Poly Pads and I cant even get any of these to reach round his legs.

He is a typical cob, 15hh, short legged but with alot of bone and feather.

Id be really grateful if anyone has had a similar problem and can suggest a good brand to try. Ideally id like them to have striking pads on the bottom as he tends to stand on his boots while travelling.

Thanks for your help.

Hi there
I've got a huge heavyweight cob with elephant legs! I bought Schockemohle Busse Travel Boots (full size - I think they are the largest) for him last year - they were about £70 but very solid and I'm sure they'll last him the rest of his travelling life.
He doesn't like walking with the back ones on so I usually just pop them on when he's loaded.
Hope this helps.:)

Glad it's not just me that struggles with plenty of bone. It's such a pain getting leg wraps, overreach boots etc isn't it?

I travel my cob without any travel boots as he just seems to get in a muddle when he is wearing them, and he stands as quiet as a lamb if he is bare legged.

Hi, thanks for your input everyone, im glad im not alone ... maybe we've found a gap in the market! .... Will have a look at the Busse and Mark Todd boots armed with a tape measure! I need to use boots on him as we had a bad accident in a trailer a few years ago and he understandably hasnt travelled particularly well since.

Thanks once again

Rose

I have Mark Todd's but barely use them as his legs sweat under them!
When Lidl do their horsey stuff, their travel boots are a little on the large side for my cob's tree trunks. I prefer pads and bandages though (plus, he can't poop down inside them like he can with boots!).

Try Premier Equine Stable Wraps. They are not as long as normal travel boots and you should find your horse walks better in them.
They have padded liners which are cotton covered and easily removed so they can be washed.
I've just bought them for my PRE and I think I prefer them to the Mark Todd ones I had before
