I’m thinking of starting my girl on a turmeric supplement for her joints, but don’t know which one to go for. I am away a lot for work and rely on a friend or the livery yard to feed my horse when I’m away, and I leave all her feeds premixed for ease, and to ensure she gets exactly the correct feed, so I can’t really make a golden paste (no available fridge) , or rely on others to make sure the right amount of pepper and oil are added. But which brand do I go for? Any recommendations?

I go for Omega Equine Turmeric Extra personally - it comes in a 3.5kg bag, has vitamin e, micronised linseed (for the oil to help absorption I believe) and black pepper (to activate) - so all you have to do is pop it into the feed :) The dosage rates on it are quite high if I remember (3-6 scoops for a pony and 4-8 scoops for your average horse), however I feed my retired 14.2 and my 15.2 rising 2 year old 2 scoops each and they do perfectly fine on it. Added bonus is that it's about £17 to buy direct from Omega Equine AND comes with a scoop in the bag (although some digging around may be required to find said scoop if it's not sitting at the top of the bag 🤣)

Another good turmeric supplement that I've used is Equine America Turmeric - that comes in a 3kg tub, is slightly pricier at £19.50 for the tub, but still has everything added that you need so all you have to do is pop some scoops into the feed and it's all done x

We feed actual GP to our cat and don't keep it refrigerated, it doesn't say to but it IS airtight. The recommend their pellets for horses which WOULD be easy to feed.
