Hi as its getting a bit colder I suddenly have the urge to splurge on a good under rug for my youngster who will be living in this year. I got him a heavyweight rug with no neck (as it was a bargain) but am now on the search for a full neck under rug. It needs to be quite deep, not slip and not rub. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

The best under rug I've got is a Mark Todd one. It fits absolutely brilliantly and has lasted forever. It actually came with the horse when we bought him 3 years ago and still looks in great condition despite being worn (and washed!) most of every single winter. I'm normally really anti buying things with a celeb's name on - but in this case the quality is undeniable.

That said - Rambo do a new shell system which reads really well. But if I buy another rug (let along 3 of them!) my OH will hit the roof!

If you can find one that has a nylon lining then thats best as they slide aound easier on your horses coat leaving it shiny and not "sticking" to them as they lay down etc. They also dont stain the same as cotton lined ones. The Mark Todd ones are nice but Im not sure if they are nylon lined. I use the Rambo Duo liners under my stable rugs and only use my Weatherbeeta combo if its bitterly cold. They rub her mane out.
