I am looking for the best value for money shavings or similar.

We are about to move 3 horses onto DIY livery from grass livery. Have not used bedding for a while, but know there is a huge variety out there.

I would like good size bales at a good price - please help,

Also I am near aylesbury bucks so if you know anywhere local that would be a bonus.

thanks

I changed from straw to wood chip, I use Countrywide own brand woodchip which is £5.49 per bag, I put 5 in to start off with, then a bag of Bedmax on the top I find it keeps the poo on the top of the bed, it's great the woodchip soaks the pee up and keeps it in a small area, I remove poo scrape back the shavings remove wet patches flatten out the bed again then pull the bedmax back over the top, the bedmax is around £7.60, I find it lasts ages I top up with 1 woodchip and one bedmax a week.

I find snowflake shavings the best of the shavings brands as they fluff out the most when you un pack them. I buy in bulk whenever my Saddlers has a 20% off event.... like this coming Thursday :)

I use Hunter shavings - they last forever - 1/2 a bag a week and some weeks I don't put any in at all. Bedmax are rubbish and for about the same price as Hunters you get hardly any in a bale so I go through two a week. Ditto pure shavings and any other brands I've tried. Hunters are £7.95 a bale.
