Clue is in the title really I guess :)

Can anyone recommend some really decent over trousers? Mine have finally died and all I seem to be able to find are lightweight ones that won't cut it! Mine were the rubberised type, really hard wearing, I'd like more like those if possible. The brand I have are no longer being made :(

I also need a thin jacket to wear under my wool coat. The rain has been so terrible here it's getting in !! I have worn a thin Regatta showerproof jacket underneath but even that let the rain in after one drenching. I whip so am out til dark so need something decent that will last all day / into dusk and in the torrential Welsh weather !!

Thanks guys

The Mark Todd ones are amazing and have zips down the outside so you can put them on without taking your boots off. Under coat - no idea as I am still coatless yet this year (its sooooo mild)

Try monsoon parlour trousers. I have yet to find any that match thier water tightness ! They are the rubberised type, but not rubber if you know what I mean.

You want a proper hunt coat with a goretex lining.

Most lightweight anoraks won't be 100% waterproof and very few will be if you put the fabric under pressure by wearing it under another coat.

I have to confess to buying a Musto sailing coat in navy blue to wear for those horrible days - I got so wet gateshutting one day earlier this season and said never again. Coat is a Musto Corsica coat which is very smart and totally waterproof.

I wear it with waterproof Shires breeches and stay pretty warm and dry all day.

Both my hunt coats are 50+ year old Bernard Weatherills and are not remotely waterproof. Our huntsman came for supper and I told him I would be wearing m Musto coat and he was quite happy with that!!!!

I saw someone out the other day and the rain was just rolling off his hunting coat. I asked him what he'd done to it and he said it had just gone back to Frank Hall (tailors in Market Harborough) to be waterproofed. He didn't know what they did, but it was magic! You could call them and ask them how they do it!

I have just bought a Thi Dri Riding Apron (search on Facebook). It does what it says on the tin ie. keeps your thighs dry, so is good for showers, but on torrential days doesn't keep your bottom dry in a wet saddle. Not tried trousers though.
