My lil boy is a 11.3hh dun welsh x, he had his first bath of the year yesterday seen as we had that rare hot sunny day :D I shampooed all of his huge mane and tail but then found it difficult to fight through his coat, he is loosing his coat by the bucket load but does anyone has any tips or advice on how to clean all the way through his dense coat to get rid of all the dirt that's still hiding in there?!?!?

A good scrub with shampoo and a rubber or plastic curry comb works for me, well for the pony, but you know what I mean. ;)

Buy one of these

I use superglue to seal the threaded section into the brush, then push a length of hose on (about 12") and secure with a hose clip, then attach a hose joiner to the end. This means that you can just click the brush onto the hose with ease. The super glue and hose clip stop everything falling apart.

I try to use hot water to dilute the shampoo - have the hose on trickle and then work shampoo well into the hair. When my Clydesdale is really grubby I use the brush with just water until all the mud is out then use the shampoo - it doesn't have to work so hard then
