When I bought my TB mare(6weeks ago) the previous owner had cut her mane-it had never been touched so very long but also thin. It sits perfectly but is starting to get a bit long.
I tried to pull a bit of it to see what she made of it-let's just say she can be typical mare and wasn't having any of it!
So what is the best way to cut a mane evenly-I was thinking wet it down and cut in line with crest?

PS I hate solo combs-never end up looking good when I've used it and her mane is thin already so doesn't need thinned!

If you use solo comb correctly - ie back comb hair as you would normally to pull, then snip it, it looks great. Practice needed mind you! Ot you can backcomb underside of mane and trim remaining bits with scissors. Depends how competent you are - no skinheads!!
