Now Mickey is going to a new home I'll be looking for another horse or pony to exercise and look after. Mum says I should give it some time and let the right horse find us but I would really like something just to exercise etc over the summer.

I'd be looking for something to have fun on, do some pc and generally enjoy hacking out on etc. Preferably wouldn't want anything smaller than 14.2hh purely because I am very leggy but would be happy to ride anything up to 16.2hh as long as its not a lunatic. Hopefully in a year or 2 Jen will buy me my own as she has promised this once she has finnished her degree and is nolonger being supported by my parents and although I've got Tilly to look forward to she is still a young horse and for the next year I am going to be very limited with her, so whatever I take on it would only be for a year or so (unless it was with a view to buy!)

So where do I start looking? Mum won't let me put any ads up in local tack shops as Dad would go through the roof if he realised we were taking on a "loan" (as far as he's concerned I'd just be helping someone else with there horse) and Im worried that word of mouth wouldn't be enough

what about getting a summer job? THAT way you're not working for 'free'. Plenty of people want a good rider over the summer months to help with showing etc, and not only will you get to ride, you'll get paid and be getting valuable experience too. Put the word out with your instructor and the local PC.
