What would you recommend to get rid of an upside down neck? Well it's not upside down, the pony just spends a lot of time with his head up and back and so has developed unwanted muscle underneath his neck. I doubt I will be able to get rid of it all completely.

He is currently in no work and won't be until Feb/March so I am thinking ahead of the game here! My current plan is a loose outline for a few weeks before being asked to collect up up hills. There's nothing I can do about him being a girrafe in the field unfortunately!

If coming into a stable, then a low a door as safely possible. Or if not poss, then a wooden step (a length cut off a sleeper is great) just inside the door. This will encourage to lower head and stretch back as well if close to door.
Loose outline and also engaging the back end, introduce hill work too as this can help if done well

Introducing short sessions of strapping on the top line will also help.

Could take you around 12 weeks or so to improve by steady methods.

Good luck :)

Feed from the floor, billy lifts, carrot stretches, teach him to drop his head and neck from light poll pressure, long and low Pessoa work. Once riding teach him to take the contact down and forward and don't worry about outline until the muscles start to correct :-)
