I am fighting a losing battle with my chestnut and his mud fever

I have been using Sudocreme and it is working a bit but I think I really need to clip his white leg to get a grip on the mudfever properly as it just seems to bounce back. However, his fur has quite a bit of Sudocreme stuck to it and my attempts to get it off with shampoo and Hibiscrub and in desperation Fairy liquid have failed quite miserably..

How best to clean it off to I can clip him properly?? Any advice very gratefully received.

I think if you've tried all of the above (and I've never known it not come off with washing up liquid), you'r just going to have to get to it with the clippers......

I have a very spotty chestnut at the mo as he seems to be having a scabby stage on various bits of his body apart from legs! and therefore is dotted with the stuff. I find if I dont put anything on it the day before it clips through ok.

I think I have got it off with cowboy magic before though.

Seems to come out with Robinsons active wash coz I scrub with that & then reapply sudocreme the next morning. Unless it's really thick, I think the clippers will go thru it anyway.

A dry towel and a bit of a rub if he can stand it?

I put Sudocrem on my mare's neck as she gets zits! I rub it in to the skin and after a day or so, it seems to lift out and ends up sitting on top of the fur.

A quick rub with a dry towel and it's all off.

I use it on my horses mane and tail when he is suffering with sweet itch. I find ordinary shampoo x 2 plus a good rinse normally gets rid of most of it.
