I need a neck strap to help when I'm jumping. I have one idea of how to make one, but what are your tried and tested ways? Or anyone know a good place to buy one, can't seem to find one when I type in neck strap???? Thanks

Would one half of a pair of reins work? I did hear this before, what do you reckon? Stirrups seem to be a good bet, but would need to buy some, whereas I have a pair of reins lying around!! No martingale though, although that sounded like a good idea!! Also with whatever I use do I attach it at the bottom of his neck so it is fairly loose, or higher up which would make more sense to me??

I bought a economy martingale just for the neck strap think it cost me six pound. I have always done it that its on as tight or loose as you like obviously safely though. I dont think you could do it with reins as you need it to fasten it together so one side of a pair of reins wouldnt work and a full set would be far to long

Get a hunter breastplate. You can get a cheap one off ebay. The 'handle' is in the right place to grab in an emergency and unlike a stirrup leather, it won't spin round if you're trying to stop yourself going off the side. I have one and it's saved my ass a couple of time :o

An instructor once said to try an old leg strap off a rug. This worked & was adjustable. Just clip on to loop at the other end.
