My pony has just developed windgalls and I am wondering what would be the best thing to keep her legs cool when we stay away at shows for a few days as obviously using anything that has to go in the freezer won't work. Also I use sprts boots on her but she has sweaty legs when I take them off so are these making the windgalls worse or is it better to use them as they support the leg. Any advice on treating and preventing windgalls and how to stop them swelling when she is stabled at a show will be greatfully recieved

For general cooling you could try Neo Ice leg wraps which require no refrigeration or soaking at point of use; alternatively something like Farnam Cool Pack Green Jelly which you can just slap on from the jar, it doesn't need hosing off and won't leave you covered in gunk. Once the legs are dry, any residue brushes off easily.

I just put stable bandages on my chap if I'm away and also make sure he gets walked out in hand a lot to keep things moving! Works for me :)

I have some cold water boots from Premier Equine which you soak in a bucket of cold water before use. You can also add I've to the water if it is available but I find for a short preventative cooling rather than icing an injury they work very well.
