I went on the Kennel club web site and looked for registered breeders. all depends on what you want. The breed societies all have their own registered breeders and the litters detailed along with the contact details.
if you are wanting a cross breed then the rescue societies often have those and if you are really not bothered about the breeding then Epupz is a website that anyone can use. But beware the dodgy puppy farmers and the dogs without health checks. Oh and the so called designer mongrels selling for silly money
If it is a pedigree you want, the best way is to contact the Kennel Club and then go through the regional breed clubs for that breed. Most clubs have a puppy line, that way you`ll get decent show type breeders ,not puppy farms. Also the KC will have contact numbers for breed rescues.Choosing from a KCAB breeder should ensure a decently bred and reared puppy, but have to say it is too easy and loads just use it to sell puppies. Breed clubs are easily the best route.
I used the kennel club website to find Pixels litter. Can select breed and area etc and see if they are accredited. Then there are links too breeders websites if they have them.
Would agree to check out KC website, breeders listed under the Assured Breeders Scheme are by no means all perfect but it is a good start, you still have to ask all the usual questions re health testing, and see proof of the results, but it is a good place to start. Some breed clubs have Breeders Charters or similar and will have a list of breeders who have signed up to them. Avoid the likes of epupz and the freeads.
Also try and see if there is a website for a breed society.
I am sure others will disagree, but I would avoid Epupz, Champdogs, Gumtree, Donedeal. There may be reputable breeders on those sites but there are also some who are not and a novice buyer could be 'sold a pup' if they did not know exactly what to look for.
i will admit i dont know what to look out for. i have a young gsd already. im wanting a big dog no specific breed but must be pedigree and kc reg. not wanting a puppy just a young dog from 6 months plus and preferably female as that what my gsd is and i dont want to hear the sound of little paws in the future
