Best 'wet' food for fussy terrier

I'm currently feeding my parsons terrier Remy, James Wellbeloved but the fussy little git has a couple mouthfulls and then trots off. I've tried him on various other dry stuffs, and tried mixing it with milk/rice ect. but he still turns his nose up at it! Think he would prefer some sort of wet/moist/whatever you call it feed, but I have know idea which one to go for.

I don't like any of the crappy tin varieties that are full of aditives and as much as I would like to feed him the BARF diet, it just wouldn't be viable.

So any recommendations?
 
I had a rotty who was very fussy and I used to fed her fry food but mix some gravy in with it. She ate that no prblem!!

ETS that should be DRY food and not fried food!! Seem to have keyboard dyslexia today.

I cannot stand fussy eaters, human or canine. Tink used to be a bit fussy, but rather than pander to her, if she didn't eat up within 15 mins it was taken away. She soon learnt.

She wasn't stupid, cottoned on pretty sharpish so we werent exactly starving her and she didn't lose any weight.
 
Same as Tinks, mine get ten-15 minutes and then it is taken away and added to next feed (also to prevent lungworm, mine are outside and I don't want the slugs sliming all over it, they carry it)
When they are getting fussy I chuck on veg oil, natural yoghurt or mix up an egg in there. All three of these things are also good for condition.
 
I forgot to feed him this morning, and he didn't have his usual feed last night as we got back so late so I was expecting him to wolf his food down this afternoon. Instead he did his usual eat a bit and then walk off. He just seems to be the type that isn't really that bothered about food. I don't leave it down as the Dally scoffs it up.

Oh I know this all too well!! My half terrier is the same. Drives me mad!!

I put her onto Wainwrights, they do meat it trays, it's not your usual additive packed, tinned rubbish. You can get it from Pets at Home.

I agree with this and similar posts. I'd give it less than 15 minutes though and then nothing at all to eat until his next regular mealtime. Nothing wrong with making it more appealing too - bovril as suggested is great (I use marmite!!)
 
I agree on principle with the take it away after 10 mins principle and I'd try this but in my experience the JRs are bad for being picky and can drop weight quickly. I've also found they don't like being over faced with food so advise small portions and if you put a little warm water over the JWB it releases the gravy and can make it more appealing. Not hot though just lukewarm.

For prepared wet food I like Butchers I also cook up a little mince to add to my dog's dried food.

Just curious as to why you feel that feeding a raw diet would not be viable for you?
 
I have a super fussy JRT . She will only eat semi-moist or wet food , no tins , no dry food .

Something I have found she absolutly scoffs up , and licks the bowl clean is food called natures:menu , it comes in individual packet/tray things .
It is 100% natural and has crushed bones and omega 3&6 and herbs added to the meat

It is suitable for the BARF diet as well , I think ! Its definatly worth giving it a go , you can get it at pets at home and most other pet shops .
