Please do not touch bob martins with a 10 foot barge pole, it does not work very well at all. You can now get certin wormers from pet shops. Im sure you can get Drontal from Pets at Home!!!!
You can get any wormer for your dogs from on line pet phamracys and is cheaper then pets at home please pm me if you need more or any info on these as i know a great one..
I was using Panacur (which is prescription only or whatever you call it) but was told recently that it doesn't kill tapeworm so next time I'll be going for Drontal. I always buy my wormers online, Hyperdrug are pretty good and have free delivery, stuff nearly always arrives the next day.
I've heard many bad things about Bob Martin products so I don't use them any more, but I have to say their supermarket flea treatment was the only thing that got shot of my exes cat's fleas!
I use to use Drontal but vets have mmoved on to milbemax. I have jsut done mine with Verm-x which in liquid form has no vat has is aimed at working dogs & you just do it for 3 days in a row once a month. Is all herbal so no harmful chemicals. Am thinking it will be better with my workers as reminding the body every month to get rid of the little critters rather than longer periods with a big clear out.
They just had it on their food & didn't turn there noses up at it & it as a fair smell to it!! Will be interesting to see how they do on it though their coats have a new gloss to them!
I'm another one who would NEVER use Bob Martins or anything you can get from a supermarket (e.g Tescos) - they simply arent made to be effective enough
I always use Drontal, I just need one large tablet for each of mine now - it saves my fingers as I am less likely to get bitten when administering
I get mine from www.vetuk.co.uk - free P+P and next day delivery, they are fab (and much cheaper than the vet!)
Panacur does cover Tapeworms. It also covers immature and mature stages of roundworms of the gastro-intestinal and respiratory tracts. It also has an ovicidal effect on nematode eggs.
His spot on flea treatment also does heartworm, hookworm, roundworm, and some other ones that I have no clue what they are
It's called Advocate.
I only use it as that's what the Vet gives me.

you mustn't use Advocate and Milbemax together! They have the same active ingredient for worming and can lead to overdose if you use both. If you're using Advocate you should only use Drontal for worming.

it doesn't cover the most common form of tapeworm in the dog, only one minor species of them therefore it's not a good wormer to be using routinely. drontal or milbemax are the only ones that do everything.

I use them 2 weeks apart as told to by my Vet...

we were told by the rep just not to risk using them together so have changed all our clients onto Drontal. they did say to us it would be ok to use Advocate as long as they hadn't had Milbemax in the preceeding 2wks but it was best to then switch onto Drontal as they haven't done any tests to make sure it's ok to use Milbemax with Advocate long term. Mind you, guess who makes Drontal - the same people as Advocate and not the same people as Milbemax - I do always wonder if what the reps say is true, but we have to go with their advice or could be in trouble if a dog did have a reaction.
I use Drontal as its an all in one, one treatment dosage. So its easy, and they do different sized tablets for different sized dogs. Big dog gets one large tablet, little dog gets one small tablet.
Also use the cat version Drontal wormers for the cats too.

That makes me feel a little less panicky!
He has another two months worth of them left, so I shall continue making sure I leave two weeks between them, and then I will ask the Vet when I go to get more.
Either that or I will keep him on Milbemax and switch him to Frontline.
Milbemax and Frontline offer the most complete protection and are easy to dose! Drontal tablets are a lot bigger, Frontline does ticks too which Advantage doesn't!

yes, but Frontline doesn't do lungworm which is a humongous problem in certain areas of the country. We in Surrey are seeing heaps of cases now and some are dying - it's really not nice. I would recommend anyone in an endemic area uses Advocate without fail every month.
