I'm about to get one of the following clippers and wondering which one. It's between the heiniger progress clippers and Liveryman red rocket clippers, please don't suggest other ones! I clip 4 or 5 horses a couple of times each year ranging from a trace clip on the hairy cob to a full clip on the TB. I'd be really interested in any opinions and experiences of the two clippers - good or bad - so I can decide which one to buy. Thank you!

I love my heiniger Progress clippers and havent a bad word to say about them. I used to clip about 10 times a year + and never had a problem with them

I have liveryman calypso which I have used to clip approximately 12 times over the last 3 winters, the last time I used them the motor was working but the blades were not moving, I took them to our local (very reliable and trustworthy) clipper centre and they told me they were Japanese imports with the Liveryman name and they were rubbish, they were surprised I'd used them so many times without a problem. Basically some parts inside were plastic when the better ones are metal, the cogs that move the clippers were broken off and it needed some other part . Fortunately they keep a lot of reconditioned/spare parts and it only cost £30 to get fully working clippers back, so whilst your'e not looking at calypso the make is the same so be wary.

Another vote for Heiniger Progress. Especially if you (like me) have a noise sensitive horse. I used to have to get her "profoundly sedated" by the vet - now 1ml of sedalin is enough to get the job done. Also really light and easy to hold if you have small hands.
