Went down to yard to bring ponies in yesterday(privately rented just our 2 ) and whilst we were there a police car pulled up and the officer came through to talk to us.
He said that he had driven by earlier and noticed that our main gate had been left unpadlocked and just to warn us that there had been a number of horse thefts in the area anything from shetlands to thoroughbreds.
Obviously very pleased that he had taken the time to drive back when we were there to let us now and thanked him, drive is usually padlocked but had left it for a delivery, but also a bit worried as i have not heard anything about the thefts and we are in a fairly close knit(gossipy) area.
So just to pass the warning on to people. We are in the Chesterfield/Dronfield area.
