I am doing my stage 1 at the start of September.
Was planning on doing it earlier but havn't really had the time or money, i have been riding for 9 years and im pretty confident about it but does anyone have any tips?

best piece of advice i was given was to know your stuff for the next stage up then if you forget a minor detail on one thing but know something more than you need on another thing they can see you know what your talking about!alot of it is common sense really good luck

When i did my stage 2, during pracitcal stable management part the horse did a poo in stable. I went out of the stable and looked for something to clean it up with and couldnt find anything, examiner was busy with other candidates so i just carried on with what i was doing.
Although i passed it was comented on at the end, examiner not happy about poo not being cleaned up straight away. So always clear up any poo

Also when i did my stages i was in my late teens and found the older people jumped in at all the questions leaving me not saying as much, then the examiner would ask you the harder questions. By the time id done a couple i was much better at answering 'open' questions. So just be ready to get your answers in before other people, if you know it tell the examiner quick before someone else does.

As already said a lot of it is common sense and if you use real life experience in your answers then it shows you havnt just learnt it out of a book.

Good luck and let us know how you get on
