we got one sent through a year or so ago..... it did seem like an awful lot of hoops to jump through and tbh i didnt think that all of them were necessary but then we are just a small (8 horse) DIY yard

thanks folks- it was for my lovely new YO. i was telling her that my old yard was BHS approved and whilst i agree with the hoop jumping thought it was a good way of getting yard advertising- i know i always look on the bhs website as it does provide an accessible list of approved centres and one wuld hope that there was some sort of standard as there are so many crap yards out there (and i know there are lots of nice unapproved yards before someone says it but thought it might be worth a bit of time!

i will tell her to ring BHS for a leaflet!

I actually think it is worth getting, the inspection was quite thorough, all horses checked including feet, all fences checked for suitability. All stables checked from a health and safety point of view. I have standards I have to maintain, I have unannounced inspections every year at some time. So it ensures standards remain at the acceptable level. Thinks like fire extinguishers, yard rules, accident report book, vet book are all checked. As for advertising I suspect it works for people new to the area, rather than the locals.

have told new YO to ring BHS and they will send her some information- she seemed pretty keen to go down this route and i think would be willing to make any changes deemed necessary to get place up to scratch (i don't think they currently have an accident book for example
