BHS Approved livery yard application

Well I was going to apply but the general opinion seems to be it isn't worth a light so I didn't bother. Yard is filling up just fine without it and I think the local grapevine is a better judge of a quality yard.

I've seen yards with it and yards without and to be honest I wouldn't use as an essential criteria. If I was moving from one of the country to another I would probably pay more attention.

It does put you on another 'list' though for people to find out about you.

Only liveried on one BHS yard and it was appalling, by far the worst yard I've been on.

I ended up in court with them due to their lack of care.
I did inform the BHS at the time but they weren't interested.

Yard has shut now ... best thing that could've happened to it :).

It cost quite a lot of money so unless your quite a large yard it does not make sense financially, I know yards both with and without it, those that favour it say it helps to maintain standards and keeps them up to date with health & safety and risk assessments etc. as well as contracts and the legal helpline (which as a BHS member you hace access to anyway) I think there are going to be some people that preferr you to have it, but most will be far more interested in your facilities and standards of care.

I have been running the yard for 19 years and have a loyal fabulous bunch of liveries as with all yards people either love it or hate it! I have looked at joining the scheme for some while as I do believe all yards should be licenced, however the cost is high and I am very interested in all your views. x :)
