Im thinking of taking my bhs stage 1 exam just wondering what you have to do for it? also for the latter exams do you have to be the minimum age when you enter to take the exam or just say you turn the minimum age after you have entered the exam but are the minimum age for the exam date can you still enter? sorry ill explain better if you dont understand.

The full syllabus can be found here www.bhs.org.uk/~/media/BHS/Files/PDF Documents/Exams/Stage 1 Syllabus.ashx

Basically for the riding it is walk, trot and canter with stirrups, walk and trot without stirrups and work over trot poles in walk and trot in jumping position.

For the care it is basic everyday horse care. Grooming, tacking up, rugs, basic grassland management, feeding, stable management, healthcare.

I believe you have to be the correct age on the day of the exam but full clarification could be gained from the BHS office.
