I'm just about to pay for the membership online, for the insurance (after it was reccommended for me here, thank you!!)

And I was wondering, when do I get covered? As soon as I pay? As I got that with my old insurance and I would need it as soon as because I think I am riding tomorrow

Not until your membership has been processed & you have been issued with a membership number, so don't cancel your other insurance just yet !!
 
Check your household insurance doesn't cover you for 3rd party first or you might be wasting your money(if that is the only reason for joining)
BHS will only pay after they have checked with everyone else that they don't cover you as we discovered when a motorist claimed against us for running into our horse!
