You should be able to use Open Office (free version of word).

Actually, that's not true. A loan agreement is a 'contract' and even a verbal agreement can stand up in court if you can show reasonable 'proof' (I know, I won a case where there was no written contract!)

Provided the loan agreement is sensibly edited and signed by both parties - with both signatures witnessed - there is NO reason it swhouldn't stand up in court! Put it this way, you stand MUCH more chance with it than without it!
