so with just arranging getting my first pony (getting him this Friday! Mega excited!), I am looking at insurance....my boy is approx 20 years old and will just be used for hacking (no jumping as he does not like it!), and in the past when I have been a member of the BHS (gold member) it included insurance.....
Is this kind of insurance benefit with them, enough to cover him or should I be looking at other insurance instead of, or aswell as?

It includes public liability insurance. If that's all you need it should meet your needs. If you want more, for example for vet's fees, you'll need to look at insurance companies. Although it can be tricky and expensive for a veteran.
