...... the welfare of horses and ponies at shows.
I spotted this in H&H today and am well pleased. Many of these recommendations are already in our Rules in the Schedule for our show so at least we know we are thinking along the right lines.
I was going to copy and paste it on here but there are too many pages! So I have put the link here:-
http://www.bhs.org.uk/DocFrame/DocView.asp?id=2440
You will probably need Adobe reader to open it.
Trouble is - even though we now have all these 'un-written rules' in print, they are going to take an awful lot of enforcing. I will send for the booklet to keep beside me, like a bible, and also use the following in the Secretary's tent and, next year, in the schedule.
On show schedules, show organisers are welcome to add that the show will be held in accordance with The British Horse Society Guidelines for theWelfare of Horses and Ponies at Events. Copies of the guidelines are available from The British Horse Society (www.bhshorsewelfare.org.uk) or a paper copy will be supplied by the BHS upon request.
Show organisers - what do you think of these recommendations?
