BHS stage 1

The 'BHS' way is mainly the safest way possible for everything. Things such as fastening the throatlash on the bridle before the noseband in case horse gets away from you the throatlash is securing the bridle.

The new syllabi gives a reccomendation of learning hours to be completed before taking the exam but these can be reduced if it is a case of polishing knowledge and ability rather than learning the subjects.

The best idea would be to have a good read through the syllabus (whilst trying to translate it into plain english!) and see what you think of it. Then consider having an assessment at a BHS exam centre to see how close to the level you are. Choosing an exam centre should ensure the staff are up to date with the latest syllabus changes. If you can't get to an exam centre ask some 'silly' questions over the phone to other centres to establish how up to date they are (eg, do they know that the syllabus is now unitised?).
