I'm going to be sitting my stage one care and riding soon, and I just wanted to check what I have to wear as I'm a little confused.

One friend has said I have to wear cream jods, shirt, tie and tweed. However, the leaflet says plain jods, shirt and a fitted jumper?

Any help much appreciated - I'm *****ting myself!!

It is fine to wear a PLAIN dark v or round necked jumper for your stage one over your shirt and tie for your stage 1.

You'll need a jacket (preferably tweed) for your stage 2 upwards

Bascially at Stage 1 and 2 only a plain v neck jumper may be worn instead of a tweed jacket. A shirt and tie is prefered although they will allow you to wear a stock, there is no restriction on colour of job/breeches but they must be plain and neutral colours are preferred. Also Tweed jackets are preffered and I would always recommend wearing them rather than a blue or black one although again at stage 1 or 2 it dosen't matter as much

So personally I would wear, beige jods/breeches white/cream/light yellow shirt and plainish tie either blue/black/brown depending of what went with my hacking jacket, long leather boots and gloves must be worn for the riding section. Or you could exchange the tweed jacket for a plain V neck sweater.

Hope that helps and Good Luck.

I believe that you can either wear a tweed jacket or a jumper as an option.

If you go for the jumper it should be a v-neck over your shirt and tie school uniform style. It should be a workmanlike colour and not big and baggy. Check out any really old horse books for the general look!

If you intend doing other exams in future you may as well get a tweed now as I think you have to have one for stage two.

I remember for my stage 1 getting told off for not wearing a hairnet:rolleyes: My hair was collar length. Mind you, this was very many years ago, so they may be more relaxed now:)

Sorry Arabelle, but if your hair is not long enough to neatly be put back in a bun, it should have definitly have been put in a hairnet. (I have long hair but always wear a hairnet anyway)

When I did mine a few years back you could wear a plain dark coloured jumper or a jacket. And for everything else you should be neatly turned out as if going to a show, boots polished, hair neat etc etc! Good Luck :)
