Hello, my RS is offering a BHS Stage One - Riding course.

I'm wondering if it would add anything to regular riding lessons? For context, I've been riding on and (mostly) off for some years, and would consider myself somewhere between an advanced novice and a low-level intermediate rider. This course seems pretty basic, but maybe it provides a structure that people have found useful?

My goals are to (perhaps) share in a year or so's time, but more immediately to improve as a rider.

If you're an advanced novice/intermediate rider, the Stage 1 ride won't give you anything you won't already be doing. It IS basic - w,t,c to back to ride, 20m circle, and ride without stirrups in walk & trot.

However if you're keen on gaining wider knowledge, the care side (1 & 2) are always a sensible way of increasingly your knowledge base. Find a course, you don't have to do the exam :)

While it's generally a good principle to get many opinions & many pairs of eyes on your riding, I think you may find it a bit basic. Would it be with your regular instructor?
With future sharing in mind, I'd think you'd be better looking for some tuition on the care side of things, if you're only riding at the moment. Going somewhere else for that might be a good way of increasing your contacts too, with a view to finding a share.
