Somewhere in my area is about to start doing BHS Trec. Does this differ from Le Trec? As I notice on their schedule they don't have an endurance-type/navigation stage which I thought they do for Le Trec?

Whats involved? And whats the difference between "newcomer" and "open" level?

Thought we'd try something a little different next month purely for a change!

I think BHS trec is the official name given to le trec in this country, The Kelly marks winter ones dont include any of the map reading bit just the control of paces ( canter as slow as you can, walk as fast as you can) and the obstacles. I have done a few of the indoor ones you can use any bit and wear any thing you want, only thing that is weird with regards tack is that if your horse uses a running martingale you have to use a headcollar under your bridle for the lead sections.
I found it good fun and was nice to take my horse out to an event that although its competitive its very friendly makes a big change from my local BSJA shows!

Sounds like fun, don't think I would be any use though, we can't canter very slowly! Might go along for a laugh if I haven't got anything else to do. What do you wear, is it quite casual or is it show gear?

Just got an email back from the organiser of it, riaseed007 - there's a course walk in the morning so they'll tell us how to do each obstacle etc. You should do it! Im going to take my Welshie, he cant canter slow either and I doubt we'll get anywhere near spooky things!

kerrylou123, let us know how you get on
