Can anyone recommend a big bale feeder for hay or haylage that young horses can't climb in, get their feet in, get their heads stuck or otherwise trash or injure themselves on?

How true, which is why I'm so careful of what I use. I'd rather waste some hay than get them caught up in something. They're just like toddlers though and if there's something to undo, climb in, sit on, get caught on, they will! I like the look of the one you posted maybe for older horses, though. Thanks.

we just feed of the floor yes a lot of wastage in the field but we would rather loose money there than have a hefty vets bill or worse loose one etc

Yes, ponypets, when I see them rolling on their hay or worse still peeing on it I despair, but I'd feel a lot worse if they were hooked on something.
It seems to me that there could be a gap in the market for something though, perhaps I'll try and get a designing/thinking cap on.

For the last 7 years we have been using a round haybale feeder without problems for 7, 8 ,9 horses at a time ., 'though the youngest has been 2 years old. Hope there is something out there to suit your gang :)
