Three weeks ago I had a saddler out and ordered an Ideal Event Wide fitting saddle to be made to measure to fit my chunky monkey. Great
should take 5 weeks.
Not so great is that I've had a rather late thought in that i'm on a diet
lost loads and am going to get back down to a size 12
. It is the same saddle (but wider) as i have for another of my horses and i love it but both the one i have and the one i have ordered have a Wide Seat!!
Now i always thought wide seats were for big bums and i've just read this on another website:-
"It became apparent during the 1990s that a Saddle with a wider bearing panel was required thus necessitating a new Tree design. The primary advantage of this Tree is to allow a wider Gullet and at the same time increase the bearing area in contact with the horse. By spreading the load it assists in alleviating any potential back problems. Additionally the wide Gullet allows freedom of movement giving more opportunity for horse and rider to realise their full potential"
Have I ordered the wrong size saddle, am i still going to be able to sit in it properly when i've lost weight?
Help and honesty please even if i have ordered the wrong saddle!
