The first time I turned out my new loan horse with the other geldings he was caught mounting a small (old) pony who was then lame. He is now not allowed to be turned out with him, whch I can understand. His owners say he has never done that before but then he hasnt been out with a pony before - just horses his own size.

We are moving yards soon and I dont want a repeat of this behaviour. Is there anything I can do? (apart from tie his legs together!)

He is 7. And is a big Irish Draft.

Do you intend on turning him out with smaller neddies again? If he tried to do that to our little welsh pony, he would probably have his teeth kicked in lol! I would say the only think you can is not turn him out with smaller people? X

I wont have any control over who he is turned out with - its just "the gelding field" and I dont know what size ponies there are there.

I am surprised this pony allowed it but he is old and was heavily rugged - maybe he wasnt agile enough to escape!

Its restricted his turnout options and I dont want him to be the social pariah at his new yard as well!
