The instructor that TJP reccommended is amazing! I have learnt more since last December than I ever knew before, with regards to riding properly. And my confidence is coming back too, which is great :) So thank you TJP!

Unfortunately, my husband has suffered an injury to his spine. He has a compressed spinal cord at L3/L4 and L4/L5, which is causing him immense pain and also rendering his left leg almost useless. I have to help him to get up from sitting or lying down, and he cannot bend to pick up items below knee height. He also cannot lift anything heavy or walk the dogs.

He is awaiting an appointment with a spinal surgeon, hopefully surgery will not be needed as they are concerned that due to the location the spinal cord could be severed. So he has been prescribed Tylex for now. It is helping with the pain, but he is too sleepy to be able to drive. So my riding lessons are on hiatus for now. And horse ownership is being put onto the back burner too, as he may well be unable to work for some time to come :(

So that's both of us at least temporarily on box rest, as it were!

I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's injury. It must be dreadful for him and frightening for you both.
I'm sure that you will be able to go back to the RI when you know more about what the future holds.

Thanks, I have let her know :)

We spent most of Friday in A&E, they were ready to keep him in overnight but his x-rays showed that there is no immediate risk of paralysis, etc. Plus he is terrified of hospitals. He spent a lot of time on life support due to breathing difficulties when he was a child :( So they felt he would be better off at home.

Sorry to hear about your hubby's injury, I hope the medication works and he's gets an appointment with a specialist soon.

Great your instructor is working for you and at least you know they'll still be there when you are able to have lessons again.
