...who stepped in to take care of baby pony for me today, after my husband's nasty fall! The YO refused to hear of my trying to get to the yard, and has us both (husband and I) on box rest until tomorrow evening at the earliest. We are on DIY, but she says to not be daft - it's an emergency, no one expects us to go up in this state!
Husband ended up in A&E for around six hours - his lower right arm is broken, and he has pulled a tendon in his jaw and split open his chin and skinned both knees. And minor concussion and shock due to blood loss. Five stitches in chin, arm in plaster, back in tomorrow for surgery to reset the bone
Oddly, he is allowed to drive with the arm in plaster, as long as he feels able. Doctors felt I did a bang up job with my first aid job (cold compress, followed by compression bandage and makeshift sling made from dog lead)! I suspect I may still need to bus it to the yard though, as husband is on some serious pain relief and I reckon he ought to be sleeping...
Feel free to share your stories of awesome horsey people and awful injuries! Please no gory pictures, have seen enough blood for one day...
