...who stepped in to take care of baby pony for me today, after my husband's nasty fall! The YO refused to hear of my trying to get to the yard, and has us both (husband and I) on box rest until tomorrow evening at the earliest. We are on DIY, but she says to not be daft - it's an emergency, no one expects us to go up in this state!

Husband ended up in A&E for around six hours - his lower right arm is broken, and he has pulled a tendon in his jaw and split open his chin and skinned both knees. And minor concussion and shock due to blood loss. Five stitches in chin, arm in plaster, back in tomorrow for surgery to reset the bone

Oddly, he is allowed to drive with the arm in plaster, as long as he feels able. Doctors felt I did a bang up job with my first aid job (cold compress, followed by compression bandage and makeshift sling made from dog lead)! I suspect I may still need to bus it to the yard though, as husband is on some serious pain relief and I reckon he ought to be sleeping...

Feel free to share your stories of awesome horsey people and awful injuries! Please no gory pictures, have seen enough blood for one day...

Aww hope your OH makes a speedy recovery and hope you can get some rest as I'm sure all the shock/organising must have caused you some stress too.

OMG !! ... Big hugs to you both ... As long as it doesn't hurt too much to be hugged !! .... and top marks to your YO for leaping into the breach to help out. What happened? Hope your OH recovers well. All the best ....

Hope your husband makes a good recovery.
It's nice to hear a positive YO story. most on here just seem to slate YOs but there are some out there who are worth there wait in gold.

Oh no, your poor hubby. I hope his op goes smoothly. Lots of healing *vibes* for him.

Your new yard sounds wonderful and full of kind, helpful people. :)

Thanks all, he slipped on a leaf and walloped into a safety railing on the way down! Less than ten feet away from home: he was taking Little Blind Dog out to the car at the time, as we were going to take him up to the yard with us. Last time he tried to walk one of the dogs, he slipped on wet grass in the park and cracked three ribs falling into a river! I am beginning to suspect assassins are involved...either that or he's cursed!

Oh no! Wishing your husband a quick recovery. And one thing I love about horsey people is that most of the time when the chips are down we put it all aside and help one another

Poor Hubby! Hope he mends soon  Or maybe I can send you a roll of bubblewrap ;)
What a great yard, means so much to have that help when it really matters :)

Blimey, he goes to some lengths not to walk the dogs :p
Hope he recovers soon and what a lovely YO you have.

Wait a minute...you don't think...husband, you cad! <glares at husband, then feels sorry for the poor broken man> Nah, he loves going out with them. I kind of rely on them to drag him home if he knocks himself senseless...

He is grumbling about wanting to drive at the moment...I have told him to check with his insurance people and DVLA first. Suspect it may be a moot point by the morning as he is going to be very stiff and sore!

Sigh. He would be a brilliant rider: high pain threshold, actively avoids medics...we could send him to do cross country, lol! Not sure it would be any more dangerous than a walk in the park for him. It's like I married a superhero, but without any powers, he just comes home injured all the time! Maybe he has a secret nemesis and a costume...

Hmm, Little Blind Dog has taken action and is attempting to destroy husband's dog walking boots...he just clunked him in the knee with one whilst shaking it! Ouch...!
