Big round hay bale=how many small bales?

As title really.....trying to work out which is the cheapest option for me.

Supplier has put price of a big round hay up to £42...nice quality and quick delivery but I'm trying to work out if its cheaper for me to go and collect smaller bales instead.

We were told about 10-12,
We have had ours open for a couple of weeks now with three horses, they are having a small haynet each night each, and there is still half of the roll left, they are tightly packed.

yep, approx 10-12 normal size bales of hay.
